Terms of Use

Last updated 12 July 2026

By using Composition Search (the “Service”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.

What the Service is

The Service is an independent, informational tool that suggests a likely MLC composition registration for a recording, based on The MLC’s public bulk data. It is an early beta, is not official, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) or Deezer.

No warranty

The Service and its results are provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranties or guarantees of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. Results are suggestions drawn from a third-party snapshot and are only as accurate as the underlying data.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, financial, or rights-management advice, and it should not be relied on as a definitive source of ownership or registration. Always verify against primary sources before acting on any result.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or its results, including any decisions made on the basis of them.

Acceptable use

The Service is for personal, informational use. Do not scrape or bulk-harvest it, run automated or abusive request volumes, attempt to disrupt or overload it, or circumvent rate limits or security measures.

Third-party data and intellectual property

The underlying data (The MLC bulk data feed and Deezer cover art) remains the property of its respective owners. No affiliation or endorsement is implied. Marks and names are used for identification only.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date above reflects the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator’s principal place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
